Back Garden Development

The Stockton South Conservative Parliamentary Candidate seemed to take issue with a letter that I wrote to the newpapers about back garden development. He said that he will, when elected, have this rule changed.  A vote catching ploy. Prominent conservative councillors have actively worked and agreed to large number of unpopular developments.   These people have double standards.  Cllr Sherris first advertised his house for sale with George F White, the details of which included a potential building plot in the orchard.    No doubt, Mr Sherris would agree with this back land development when at the same time he was actively working against a neighbouring resident not only to stop a house in the garden but also to prevent the widening of the drive.  I see drives being widened every year with no fuss, no interference from councillors and probably without planning permission.

Planning Applications

A Fair Deal should be the order of the day for every Applicant and Objector.  Since 2005 Marjorie has continued to help residents who have experienced problems with planning applications.  Many Kirklevington residents feel they have had a raw deal for years from a councillor who has represented them for over twenty years.

A67 – Old Kirklevington Country Club Site

Marjorie helped residents with the A67 eyesore of a development that she discovered Cllr Mrs Beaumont had been heavily involved with since 2001.   At the planning committee where Marjorie spoke on behalf of residents Mrs Beaumont told the committee that residents now felt that it looked better than they had expected.  This was untrue.

High Church Wynd – 34 Flats

Marjorie Simpson stopped the Wimpey proposal that cars for their site would enter from West Street.   She attended the planning meeting speaking against the proposal and was successful in persuading members to vote against this proposal which would have meant traffic North South East and West in a 50yard area where large numbers of pedestrians would be at risk.   Again Cllr Beaumont tried to have this approved and a resident of the area was there to witness this.

The Wind Turbine Application

Marjorie helped Levendale residents to bring information to the planning committee that brought about a refusal.   A leaflet given out by the Conservative Councillors stated that Cllr Sherris had spoken to residents.   This was true -  he informed residents that the planning meeting was the following day.  They had contacted him two weeks previous to this and he had not been interested enough to follow it through and Cllr Beaumont had not answered a message that had been left for her.

These are but a few cases and should anyone require help or advice please do not hesitate to contact Marjorie Simpson. She is always available.
