The Spital Roundabout
Although it was arranged for this to be tidied up and enhanced as best as SBC could manage, the roundabout has been a very controversial subject for years.
Services run underneath and regular maintenance requires it to be disturbed on a regular basis. In 2004, after much talking and persuasion, SBC officers agreed that they would try to secure the necessary funding. It has taken a further two years for this to happen. Again Marjorie drove this scheme towards the Town Council for their approval. A small group of councillors selected one of the three suggested models supplied by SBC and it is expected that work will start November 06. Again there is a tendency of current new councillors to take credit for this and again it must be said that Marjorie Simpson gave much time and hard work to ensure that some scheme was introduced. It may be that everyone will not agree with this design but because of the many obstacles on this roundabout it was thought by the Town Council to be the most appropriate drawing.
